For rear luggage, SHAD has released the SHAD Top Box Fitting Kit for BMW F450 GS (W0FS46ST).

When outfitting an adventure bike, riders often search for a reliable rear carrier, top box frame, or luggage bracket. Whatever term you prefer, the SHAD Top Master delivers exactly what is needed: a robust, vibration-free platform engineered to securely hold a loaded top case over long distances. Manufactured from high-strength tubular steel with a black powder-coated anti-corrosion finish, this top case mount is built to handle the rigours of four-season UK riding without compromising the bike's handling.

⚠️ Crucial Fitment Requirement: The OEM BMW Rack

Before ordering your top box mount, it is essential to check the specification of your motorcycle. This SHAD kit is designed specifically for F450 GS models equipped with the Original BMW Luggage Rack. The SHAD steel plate does not replace the factory tail section; rather, it bolts directly over the top of the OEM BMW rear carrier, utilising the factory threaded mounting points for maximum load stability.

How to Fit the SHAD Luggage Bracket (Step-by-Step)

Installation is incredibly straightforward and can be done at home with basic hand tools in under 15 minutes.

1. Prepare the Base: Locate the four threaded mounting holes on your original BMW rear luggage rack.
2. Place the Spacers: Take the four provided metal spacers (Ø16 Ø9 x 15) and place them directly over the factory holes.
3. Align the Plate: Lay the flat SHAD steel mounting frame on top of the spacers.
4. Secure the Mount: Insert the provided M6 bolts and washers. The front two points utilise M6 x 40mm bolts, while the rear points use slightly shorter M6 x 35mm countersunk bolts.
5. Tighten: Secure the underside using the provided M6 nuts. Tip: Do not fully tighten the screws until you have ensured the top box frame is perfectly aligned. SHAD recommends checking the tightness every 4 months.

Compatible Top Boxes

Once the W0FS46ST Top Master is installed, your bike is ready to accept a SHAD mounting plate and top box. As listed on our product page, this rear carrier is highly versatile.

• For Adventure Touring: The SHAD Terra TR55 or TR48 aluminium boxes look the part on the GS and offer exceptional durability. (Note: Terra boxes require the separate purchase of an aluminium or standard SHAD mounting plate).
• For Touring & Commuting: The expandable SH59X or the lightweight SH39 offer excellent weatherproof storage. Standard SHAD top boxes (SH26 to SH59X) bolt straight onto this luggage rack using the plastic mounting plate included inside the top box itself.

Upcoming Release: F450 GS Pannier Mounts & Side Cases

A top box is great for a daily commute, but long-distance touring requires proper hard luggage. We are currently receiving daily enquiries regarding side master kits and pannier racks for the F450 GS.

Status Update: SHAD is in the final stages of manufacturing their dedicated side case holders for the F450 GS. While the official part numbers have not yet been released to the dealer network, we expect SHAD to launch both of their flagship side mounting systems for this bike shortly:

• The 3P System: A minimalist, lightweight L-shaped arm that accommodates SHAD's aerodynamic side cases (like the SH35 or SH36). The 3P mounting system is heavily favoured in the UK because it leaves the bike looking clean and uncluttered when the panniers are removed.
• The 4P System: A heavy-duty, cross-braced rectangular steel pannier rack designed specifically to carry the rugged Terra aluminium side cases (TR36 / TR47) over rough terrain.
